Gerald Evans
My career began as a labourer for a friend’s family business in 1998. After discovering a passion for building, I went on to complete my apprenticeship and gain NZQA Carpentry qualifications.
I relocated to Queenstown and worked on some beautiful properties before returning to Wellington and establishing Five Star Construction in 2008.
In 2010, I was introduced to Flashclad and became the Wellington distributor and installer of Flashclad products. This opportunity opened doors into the commercial world and gave me a far greater understanding of compliance, testing and design.
Establishing Corporate Trades from the foundations of a long partnership with Matt and Rob has been both rewarding and exciting.
Being surrounded and supported by skilled and dedicated people at a director level gives me confidence that everyone associated with the business will be well looked after.
I look forward to expanding the services we offer – creating successful futures for people within the business and delivering the best product we can for our clients.
Matt Sharland
After previous careers as a qualified motor mechanic and commercial diver, I moved into the building industry and completed my NZQA in carpentry in 2013.
From there, I specialised in Flashclad cladding systems and led large scale projects across the Wellington region. I then moved into the position of Cladding and Flashing Regional Manager.
My current role as Director for CT Clad and CT Decorate has allowed me to manage a range of residential and commercial construction projects. Along with Gerald and Rob, we have built a strong network of reliable professionals committed to delivering a high standard of workmanship and product.
We’ve built a dedicated team of cladding installers, project managers, carpenters and decorators who all contribute to, and benefit from, the positive team culture we’ve developed.
I’m excited to continue this journey with Gerald and Rob and our team at Corporate Trades.
Rob Isaac
My interest in gardening and plants began from a young age. I grew up following my grandparents around, learning how to properly treat plants on their property surrounded by trees that were planted by my ancestors in the 1870s.
I went on to study horticulture and landscape design at Weltec in 2009. During and beyond this, I worked under a very talented and experienced gardener – Mark Winter. I learnt many valuable skills from Mark, including the manipulation and stunting of plants and bonsai.
I moved into carpentry with an aim to learn and apply skills to building structures for the garden.
I began my apprenticeship with Gerald's company, Five Star Construction, in 2012 and worked under many skilled carpenters.
I qualified in 2016, did a quick stint overseas before returning to work for Gerald in 2018 as a tradesman and then as a project manager in recent times.
With the creation of Corporate Trades Ltd and the expansion into different sub trades, I am excited to apply my experience and lead the growing landscape division of the company.
